Here is Josiah showing off his vocabulary for all the world to see. Merry Christmas!
If the government of any nation could somehow duplicate BABY RADAR, I think that everyone else should live in fear forever!!! Let me explain.
BABY RADAR is the ability a screaming child has in the middle of the night to sense when his father finally wakes up enough to sit up in bed and head toward the before-mentioned child's room. At that very moment, the child quiets himself and goes back to sleep. That same BABY RADAR also senses the very instant the child's father has returned to bed and the warmth of his blankets, activating the child's need to begin screaming again. If that natural sense could somehow be duplicated into a form of intelligence technology, I personally hope that the country of which I am a citizen is the one that owns said technology, otherwise, we all should be living in monumental fear.
It probably goes without saying that Josiah's recent sleep habits have fueled this thought process. I have not slept well the past couple of nights due to his BABY RADAR. However, I cannot complain because Ashley, first of all, is a much lighter sleeper than I, forcing her to wake up sooner. I can imagine her sitting there for 20 minutes thinking, "how can he sleep through this?" Secondly, she has one child's crying in her ears (figuratively) and another's every move in her womb (literally). So, she definitely sleeps less than I do. Ok, that's my rambling for today. Sweet dreams!
Here is our most recent picture of Rhyan Isabella (aka Reagan Dakota - still trying to decide). This picture shows a forehead, eye and cheek - though I'm not sure now what the pers
pective is. Either she is looking at us or looking up. (Ashley knows for sure, but isn't here at the moment to remind me.) We got these pictures yesterday and have already heard from the doctor that Ashley will DEFINITELY be induced. Just going by head size alone - she should have been born last weekend. So, we will keep you up to date on her arrival plans.
blackbird scratch beneath a grey blanket sky,
and I stare in wonder at winter in the desert,
cool breeze bite and nip at my wings,
eery calm carry me high above,
this psuedo-cold dances on my skin,
and my soul awakens to its rhythm,
what wonderful white-less winter awaits,
and my pen recalls its first love,
the stillness a gift from the Creator,
gloom filled serenity creeps through midday,
i stand quietly in chilled abeyance,
the season begins its descent,
big sky enters and holds us in,
wrapped up in the enormity of the clouds,
i have snuggled up in its rescue,
no concern for where summer went.
It's a quarter to midnight and we just put up a couple more decorations. The Santa Clause is on TBS and we just heard Josiah crying through the monitor. Yes, we should be in bed, but I felt it absolutely necessary to post something for the first time as a couple. Nothing exciting of course, but together nonetheless. Ashley just asked me to ask if anyone knows anyone that is trying to get rid of a white dresser (for the baby girl's room). She then said, "you don't really have to put that." But we are looking for a dresser, so if you know anything, let us know. Ok, we need to get to sleep. Goodnight.
I know that the news has already gone out for the most part, but I wanted to post so all could see. As you know we are pregnant with our second and have found out that it is a girl. We are excited, but trying to keep the pink to a minimum. Not that pink is bad - just too much of anything can make a person ill.
Names: The two names that are currently tied for first place are - Ryan (though we need a girly spelling - Rhyan, Rhyann, Rian, Rhian, Rhianne), and Reagan (haven't talked about spelling on that one). I think both are attached to the middle name, Isabelle - though Dakota has been in the running for a while. Your thoughts are appreciated. Here is a picture of the little one.
Thanks for reading. Hope December is going well for you.
L, A, J, & R?
I think my Show Low genetics have fully mutated to full on Desert Rat (ask my dad). I am loving the weather right now, expecially the clouds this week and the fact that we're hitting lows in the 40s. Unfortunately, snow isn't in the cards - which isn't a big deal for me but I know Ashley would love it and I think Josiah would have a similar emotion toward it. We will have to settle for a little rain, highs in the 70s and some hot chocolate on the front porch.
I'm not sure if anyone is reading this anymore, but if you are - we hope all is well with you. Drop us a line, it would be great to hear from you. Here's hoping that your December and Christmas time is a relaxing time, and not the stressful year-end closeout that it can be.
Be back soon...Luke
